About OG Dumpling House
OG Dumpling House is a shanghainese in Rochester, New York. It is listed at 410 Jefferson Rd, Rochester, NY 14623, which places it among the local businesses of Rochester that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by. Chinese restaurants in the United States range from steam-table lunch counters to white-tablecloth Cantonese seafood halls, and most fall somewhere in between: a laminated menu, a lunch special board, and combo plates priced a few dollars below the dinner menu. Ordering by number off the menu is normal and speeds things up, especially at takeout counters. Family-style ordering, where a table shares several dishes with rice rather than each person getting an individual entree, is standard at sit-down spots and usually cheaper per person. Many neighborhood restaurants are cash-preferred or charge a small card fee, so it is worth asking or checking the door before you order. Delivery apps cover most areas, but calling the restaurant directly is often faster and avoids the markup.

Rochester is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Rochester follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

The food was okay, but nothing really stood out. The dumplings were average, not bad, but definitely not the best Iโve had. The orange chicken was about the same. Decent enough, but lacking the flavor and quality Iโd expect. The prices arenโt terrible, but considering the overall quality, Iโd probably choose another spot next time. It wasnโt a bad experience, just not one that makes me want to come back.

Pretty good honestly. Much better if you eat it at the restaurant rather than taking it to go. My opinion has been skewed a little bit because I got it to go and it was not great but I feel like that's a me problem. Definitely sit inside and eat. The food comes pretty fast too. Wouldn't say the best customer service ever but they get the job done and not the worst customer service either haha. Could definitely be worse just not very personable. Very straight forward. But yeah food was hot and fresh and delicious.

Dumplings are ok for a visit. The house soup dumpling is bland and has no taste; you do need a sauce but the one provided is super tangy. The boa is ok, donโt order the one with the hair in. Even after I told the waiter he replied I hope you enjoy the food. Not the classy response I was hoping for, luckily this was the last bit but still resonated with us. The boa is very sticky, doughy, and you have to rip the paper off which means you lose some food. The best part was the lo mein which came out first. The noodles are soft and the sauce is just right. During our visit the bathroom was full the entire time so we could not use. Wish there was more than one stall. Was this worth a drive? No. But if local it is worth a stop.

My kiddos love coming here. We enjoy the food and like having a variety of choices. We usually order the same dishes - soup dumplings, pan fried dumplings, crab rangoon, shumai, sesame chicken, and fried rice or a noodle dish. The soup dumplings can be hit or miss, but I'm nitpicking. It is generally good. I didn't give 5 stars because I have not had a dish that blows my mind and calls me back to OG. For our family, it's more of a safe option because I know each of my kids will like something and the food is tasty. Plenty of parking in the lot and I don't recall ever having to wait for a table. It seems like a lot of people come in to get takeout when we were recently there. Food comes out fast too. Try them out!

Very quick service. Laid-back casual atmosphere. No frills decor. Iโve had better dumplings, but there better than most probably some of the best in Rochester. Not in a super thin dough high-end like China type of dumpling, but probably the best youโre gonna get around here. Overall, very little to complain about. If you like dumplings you should try this place. Pork Belly buns are decent, but not as as good as other places. Soup dumplings are delicious. Dan and noodles are not nearly as spicy as the authentically should be.
